THESPIAN OF THE MONTH… PENELOPE PASQUALONE
Our TOP HONORS for COSTUME CONSTRUCTION
DUCKCEMBER starts tomorrow. Hide a couple (NOT ALL) or your ducks every day! Make sure to ask the teacher first if you are hiding ducks in their classroom. You can find ducks also (ones you didn’t hide).
🦆 Quack-tastic News, Leon High! It's Time for DUCKCEMBER! 🦆
Get ready to waddle into the holiday spirit with Leon Theatre’s 2nd Annual Duckcember event! From December 5–12 rubber ducks will be migrating across campus. Your mission? Find one, return it, and get a sweet treat!
Here’s how you can get in on the quacktivity:
🐤 Step 1: Spot a hidden duck on campus. (Don’t duck out of the challenge—keep your eyes peeled!)
🐤 Step 2: Return it to the Theatre Room **at lunch or after 6th period**.
🐤 Step 3: Claim your treat because you’re one lucky duck!
BUT WAIT! There's a golden goose—er, duck—up for grabs each day!
✨ One Golden Duck will be hidden daily. A hint to its whereabouts will drop on the @officialleonthespians Instagram story at the lunch bell.
✨ Find and return the Golden Duck for a $10 gift card to Starbucks/Chick-fil-ARed Eye/What-A-Burger/Midtown Reader.
🦆 Who Can Play?
Everyone on campus! Students, teachers, staff, admin—let’s see who has the ultimate beak-detecting skills.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s make Duckcember egg-stra special. Start the hunt, and may the flock be ever in your favor!

The Thespian State Festival 2025: Wednesday, March 19-22 in Tampa, Florida (NOT during Spring Break.)
Any Thespian that attended Districts is eligible to attend the State Festival. HOWEVER, space is limited and will be allotted first to the participants in acts that are being adjudicated at State.
We have hotel space for 26-28 students right now, and 25 of those spots will go to the students being adjudicated (listed below). IF more rooms open up (or we can get some double double rooms) then I will work off the "waiting list" (if there is more interest than places.) Priority will be for Seniors, Juniors, Officers/ Leadership Team, & Inducted Thespians.
THIS FORM IS DUE DECEMBER 6th at 3pm. At that point this form will be closed and our list of State attendees will be set so that Mrs. Marshall can work out hotel rooms and transportation costs.
PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM while sitting with a parent! This form has financial questions and obligations and you will need a parent’s approval on these issues!

WHAT HAPPENS AT STATE: Six of our Superior scoring pieces will go on to be adjudicated at State. A Superior at Districts is usually an Excellent at State. So you must commit to improving your piece. That means more time and more rehearsals happening through the winter. Once there, you have a chance to attend workshops run by Theatre professionals, watch Mainstage Performances and One Act shows from amazing high schools, and we stay downtown within walking distance of all the excitement. It is an incredible opportunity to spend time with almost 10,000 Thespians from Florida.
COST: $450-500. Once I know how many people are going, rooms we need, bus, number of chaperones, then I can calculate exactly. It will not be MORE than $500. And I am hoping to keep it more at the $450 level with using Rocky money and Yard Sign Fundraising money. STATE Festival is more expensive due to it being a longer trip, in Tampa, during Spring Break for a lot of schools (not ours). The hotels rooms are $300 a night. GASP! You will need spending money for lunch and dinner every day. Breakfast is provided by the hotel. The rooms are suites so they have mini-kitchen areas and you can make a Publix run with a chaperone for inexpensive lunch options to keep in your room.
SCHOLARSHIPS: There are a LIMITED number of scholarship funds and there will be NO FULL SCHOLARSHIPS. Everyone will pay at least $150 to secure your spot and register you for the festival. Since there are 4 months between now and State, you have lots of time to earn money babysitting, part time jobs, yard work, gifts for the holidays, etc... Please discuss with your parents how much of a scholarship you will need. You will be notified after Winter Break whether or not you will be offered any scholarship help. There are no scholarships available for those not being adjudicated at State. Scholarship priority will be for Seniors, Juniors, Officers/Leadership Team, & Inducted Thespians.
*The first payment reserves your place and ALL payments are non-refundable since we reserve rooms and buses early and have non-refundable registration costs. Funds can only be refunded if the festival is cancelled for some reason and we ALL do not attend.
Only 6 events can perform and be adjudicated at State. We will assess which numbers will be performing at State by the availability of the cast from each Individual Event. If every member of your I.E. does not wish to attend, your number cannot be adjudicated at State (except for Group Musical/Acting can have limited substitutions of people who attended Districts if someone has to drop.)

& THE FIRST GOLDEN DUCK RIDDLE CLUE…
I stand by, red and bold,
A silent hero, strong and cold.
In this room where stories come alive,
I’m ready to act if sparks arrive.
Look all around, there are several of me in this space
The Golden Duck is the prize for this FIREd up race…
