THESPIANS is an HONOR SOCIETY. You may be an APPRENTICE THESPIAN for your first year while you accrue at least 10 points for INDUCTION in the spring. APPRENTICE THESPIANS can participate in any and all Thespian activities and can audition for Districts, but you must have 2 points to attend Districts and 5 points to attend State. You can only go to Districts ONCE as an Apprentice. If you wish to audition a second year, you must be an Inducted Thespian.
Point sheets are due at the APRIL THESPIAN MEETING. You are responsible for filling out your point sheet and giving it to our STAGE MANAGER at or before our April meeting. Please ask your DramaMama or Thesbro if you need help with your point sheet prior to the April meeting!
Induction fees are $30 and are due before you can be inducted. That is a ONE TIME FEE for Induction supplies. Anyone who accrues 10 or more points, pays the Induction Fee, and adheres to our guidelines for active status is a member of Thespian Troupe #1429. This fee can be paid at the Leon Online Payment Portal (search for Thespian Induction Fee.)
To be inducted:
Inductees must earn 10 points, 5 of which should be awarded for work done at the school where he or she will be inducted. Accumulation of points will begin June after the student’s 8th grade year. All hours earned outside of the school will need to be verified.
In general, 1 point represents approximately 10 hours of excellent work. Troupe directors should use this formula in awarding points for categories not specifically listed in the recommended Thespian point awards.
A Thespian moving to another affiliated school is entitled to transfer his or her membership. Transferring Thespians bring a minimum of 10 points with them to the new school.
Induction points should be earned through participation in at least two productions/events at Leon High School.
Induction points should be earned in at least two of the categories, for example, acting and production.
Students may earn points toward induction through participation in community, or professional theatre; or in other activities in the performing arts.
Thespian membership will be made available on an equitable basis to all students who qualify.
An incoming freshman who was active in Junior Thespians can count 5 points from that experience into their point totals.
To maintain active status:
Participate in at least 2 Leon Theatre events per school year.
Attend Thespian meetings.
Adhere to all school policies.

ASK YOUR STAGE MANAGER after a meeting how to do this if you do not know how or are confused. ASK AT THE SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, or NOVEMBER meeting!! STEP 3: BEFORE the April meeting, print out your page 1 and bring it to the meeting to turn into the Stage Manager AT THE APRIL MEETING. If you have the points to be inducted, bring a check for $25 made out to Leon High School (or cash) and you will be inducted at the Roddy Awards in May. You must also turn in a new sheet with all your points if you have moved up in rankings to HONOR, NATIONAL, or INTERNATIONAL Thespian and wish to be recognized for that at the Roddy Awards.
